People around the world were first introduced to Mark Yamanaka when he released his debut album, Lei Pua Kenikeni, in 2010. Music lovers were charmed by his soaring falsetto voice and his sound, which was unmistakeably “Hilo” in nature. The Hawai‘i Academy of Recording Arts members recognized his pure, natural talent and awarded him a staggering 4 Na Hoku Hanohano awards for his first CD release.

Mark Yamanaka, a Hilo-raised, falsetto-singing, multi award-winning musician. With just two albums under his belt, this humble father of two has already garnered some of the top awards in the Hawaiʻi recording industry including:

Most Promising Artist of the Year (2011)
Male Vocalist of the Year (2011 and 2014)
Song of the Year (2011 for Kaleoonālani)
Album of the Year (2011 and 2014)
Hawaiian Album of the Year (2014)

His talents are varied, with vocals ranging from a crisp, clear falsetto, to a rich baritone and his distinctive Hawaiʻi Island-style playing pays tribute to the island upon which he was raised.
