Coming to Samʻs Town Live in Las Vegas on August 11th & 12th, 2017, the 5th Annual Kumukahi Ukulele & Hula Festival brings together acclaimed hālau and musicians for a weekend of music & dance honoring Hawaiiʻs culture & history.
Kumukahi, a point located on the Island of Hawaiʻi, is the easternmost point of the Hawaiian Island Chain. As the sun rises, the first rays of sunlight meet Hawaii here. Kumukahi greets the dawn and is seen metaphorically as a new beginning. The Kumukahi Ukulele & Hula Festival serves as a vehicle for hālau & ukulele musicians to share their talents and obtain true Aloha and Lōkahi (unity), while immortalizing the hula styles of their respective hula lineage.
Presented by Hālau o Lilinoe a me Nā Pua Me Kealoha, led by Nā Kumu Hula Sissy Kaio, Lilinoe Kaio and Lincoln Kaio, Kumukahi celebrates the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people & masters of the ukulele to bring to you a two-day festival dedicated to perpetuating the ever-growing popularity of Hawaiiʻs culture, ending with a Kanikapila featuring some of Hawaiiʻs finest musical artists.
